Science Week, celebrated from 4th September, 2016 to 8th September, was a fascinating week for students of Our Own English High School, Sharjah, Boys’ as they applied the concepts of Science to higher echelons of research and studies, bolstering a unique vista among the budding scientific and innovative minds.

The Science department structured many research oriented activities that enhanced students’ understanding of Science, hone their research skills and offering opportunities to them to use Science in real life situations. The week kicked off with great éclat with an astonishing sight of five young scientists accompanying Principal to the school auditorium followed by a stellar inaugural video created by our own students. The ornate logo of the week, created by Vishal of class 11A was unveiled.

Some of the notable events of the week include the movie making competition on Science topics, the seminar competition, Science symposium, in which groups presented a variety of research topics, whose research finesse were duly appreciated by the judges. To instil the spirit of scientific temper, science experiments were shown by the senior and   secondary students to the inquisitive little ones of grade 3 and 4.Science congress for the secondary section was the highlight of the week, where the research studies of the budding scientists were showcased, and the judges were dazzled by their sheer ingenuity. Quizzing and collage competition in the middle school contributed to the popularity of Science on the OOB campus.

A project display on working models by the primary department captivated one and all. A Street play by secondary school students on cleanliness, conducted in the junior quadrangle, rounded up the week.

Finally this evocative fiesta ended with Mr. Thomas Mathew, Head of Department of Science thanking all the Science teachers to have successfully kindled the spirit of enquiry and innovation among the curious minds of OOB.
