The Holy Month of Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran. Piety and righteousness form the spirit of this month and is upheld by every believer. It is a very rewarding act in Ramadan to offer Iftaar to those who are fasting. It is also an occasion to celebrate brotherhood and the feeling of togetherness.
The Iftaar programme organized by OOB on 31st May proved to be a cordial gathering of staff students and their families, partaking of not only the meals but also the warmth and congeniality of the occasion.
The programmes began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by several informative short speeches delivered by students on topics that ranged from dos and don’ts of Ramadan to provisions for labourers in the UAE. Excerpts from the Hadeeth and the Dua of supplication augmented the spirituality of the event. At the call of the Adhaan the gathering broke their fast and proceeded to the Maghrib prayers.
The guests were then treated to a sumptuous meal and entertained by the School Choir with melodious renditions of Nasheeds.
The programme came to an end with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Aryan Krishnan, Secretary of the Student Council.
