Primary Sports Day

2018

The much awaited Annual Sports Day was held on Thursday 22nd November 2018, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere with the Theme U.A.E – Our Pride. The chief guest for the day was Mr. K. Venkatraman – The Pencil Man of U.A.E.

The programme began by singing the National Anthem of the U.A.E followed by the recitation from the Holy Quran by Mohammed Ayaan of 4-C. The Junior Head Boy welcomed the esteemed gathering with his speech followed by the arrival of the mascot named Our X – I am the future. This was followed by the spectacular, impressive, and a well synchronized March Past by the four Houses contingents of the Primary students which rendered the spectators, speechless and awestruck. Thereafter, the Principal and the chief guest administered oath to the School Appointments and the declaration of the Meet open was done by the Chief Guest, marking the commencement of the ceremony.

The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the Sports captain, followed by the speech of the Principal who spoke about the importance of Sports in a child’s life and a speech by the Chief Guest who spoke about the importance of ‘Giving Selflessly’ and the importance of ‘Philanthropy’.

An energizing cheerleading display themed ‘United in Destiny’ set the tone for the rest of the event where the students of Grade 1 and 2 danced stupendously while the choir sang melodiously mesmerising the audience with their energetic performances. 

The most intriguing aspect, embellishing the event, was the splendid field displays, involving mass student participation, which splattered on the field, a riot of hues and vibrance based on the theme ‘U.A.E- Our Pride. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes of Grade 1- 4 who competed in events like Race (50 and 200 mts.), Hurdle Relay, Baton relay (4 x 50 m.) and Baton Relay (4 x 100 m.).

The highlight of the event were the educational races where the young minds of Grade 1 had to match the iconic building of the U.A.E to the ones displayed on the board and identify their names, the race was themed Iconic Splendour, while the Grade 2 race was themed Emirati finesse where they had to quickly dress up in the Emirati costume which were kept at certain distances and run the race. The educational race for Grade 3 themed ‘Spirit of the Union’ comprised of 4 students in each group who had to paint the flag of the U.A.E neatly. While the Grade 4 educational race was themed ‘Centennial Zest’ where the students had to solve Math equations from the numbers given and paste them on the board.

The Sports Day was marked by a remarkable individual performances of teachers and parents who, whilst not natural athletes, but did their bit for the spirit of sportsmanship.

The Best March-Past trophy and the overall champions was awarded to the Mars House followed by the prize distribution ceremony of all the events.

The culmination of the Sports Day witnessed a spectacular performance themed ‘Pinnacle’ by the students of grade 3 and 4 who where dressed in the hues of the Flag of the U.A.E and performed a drill to form the flag of the U.A.E followed by the vote of thanks by the Junior Assistant Head Boy and the Principal who thanked the entire Department of P.E for their efforts and hard work in making the Primary Annual Sports day a successful one.
