OOB receives the Khalifa Award for Institutional Excellence

Our Own Boys, Sharjah has been honoured with the prestigious Khalifa Award for Education in the field of General Education under the category of Institutional Educational Performance.

In a glittering ceremony, held at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi, the school Principal and CEO, Mr. Srivalsan Murugan, received the award from His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence. The award celebrates its sixteenth session.

The Khalifa Award for Education is one amongst the most prestigious educational awards in the region. The award aims to strengthen and bolster the educational sector by honoring and commemorating the noteworthy efforts of teachers and educators in various fields of public and private education. 

Making a statement earlier, Mr. Srivalsan Murugan said, “We are both honoured and humbled for this recognition which has been conferred upon us.” Alongside him stood his team comprising of the Vice-Principal, Ms. Sindhu P Nair, representative members of the Senior Leadership and Management Teams, representative staff members, and student leaders.

“First and foremost, we would like to thank the Almighty for his bountiful blessings upon us and our school,” stated Mr. Srivalsan. 

He added, “We would also like to thank the patron of the Khalifa award, the committee members, our regulators at SPEA, our GEMS fraternity, our team of leaders in school, teachers, students, parents and all our well-wishers who have put their shoulder to the wheel so that we could achieve this great honour.”  

In 2019, our school was also the recipient of the esteemed Sharjah Excellence Award for Distinguished Schools. 

The Khalifa Award is a proponent of the principle of ingraining the culture of excellence among those working in the field of education. The Award seeks to enrich education with research, studies, innovation and application of projects and programmes that would make the UAE's education system more efficient, qualitative and innovative. 

The Khalifa Award for Education seeks to intertwine the educational paradigm with modern technology, new media, sustainability, and community services, and improve childcare through better behavior, upbringing, and growth.
