‘Our Own’ Swimmer, Acing the Sport

Our Own swimming champ Geon Jibi, of grade 9 has aced the sport of swimming, winning several medals at the National Aquatic Swimming Championship 2023.

His participation in the competition involved three significant steps: District, State, and National levels. He initiated the journey by participating in the Calicut District Aquatic Swimming Competition in July where he showcased a remarkable performance during this event, securing an impressive five gold medals. Subsequently, his exceptional performance led him to qualify for the State meet in the Boys' Group 2 category.

Moving forward, Geon participated in the Kerala State Aquatic Competition held in Trivandrum in July, making a significant mark by breaking the state meet record for the 200M Freestyle. In this competition, he won 3 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze medals. Moreover, his outstanding performance allowed him to qualify for the Nationals for 100M, 200M Backstroke, and 200M Freestyle events.

The pinnacle of Geon's journey was marked by his participation in the National Championship held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in August. During this event, he achieved his personal best timings in all three events. Overall Geon’s performance is within the top 10 for all three events at the National level.

In terms of his rankings at the National level:

5th position in the 200M Backstroke
8th position in the 100M Backstroke
9th position in the 200M Freestyle
