OOB Students Embark on a Transformative Educational Tour to Boston and New York

27th March – 2nd April

A group of 10 enthusiastic boys from OOB, led on this educational adventure by Mr. Joepaul Nalppatt, Head of Department of Physical Education, embarked on a six-night, seven-day journey to the United States, organized by Compass International. The tour to Boston and New York was not only a memorable learning experience, but also an inspiring exploration of academic excellence, historical landmarks, and cultural diversity.

Exploring Boston: The Hub of Learning and History

The trip began in the city of Boston, a place celebrated for its intellectual spirit and historical depth. The group started their exploration at Boston Common, the oldest public park in the U.S., offering a glimpse into the city's past and present civic life.

At Harvard University, the students enjoyed a guided campus tour led by current students, who shared invaluable insights into the academic journey, university culture, and admissions process. A visit to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) further fueled the group’s passion for innovation, as they toured one of the world’s most prestigious hubs of science and technology.
The students were equally fascinated by the majestic Boston Public Library, where they learned about the significance of public learning spaces in nurturing community growth. Their visit to Castle Island and Fort Independence offered a hands-on experience of Boston’s military and coastal history.

A highlight of the Boston leg was an exclusive career guidance session organized by Compass International, which offered the students a roadmap to higher education and career planning in the U.S. The group also experienced the bustling energy of Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Quincy Market, soaking in Boston’s cultural vibrancy and historic charm.

Immersive Learning in New York City

Next, the group headed to New York City, a global metropolis renowned for its influence in finance, diplomacy, and the arts. From the sweeping views at the One World Observatory to the reflective calm of the 9/11 Memorial and Oculus, the students experienced the city’s resilience and monumental history.

A guided visit to Columbia University introduced them to another Ivy League academic environment, while a walk down Wall Street offered a glimpse into the heart of the U.S. financial system. At Times Square, students were energized by the city’s vibrant cultural expression.

The group also visited iconic landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom and opportunity, and enjoyed a fun cultural outing at Madame Tussauds, interacting with wax figures of global icons.

Their journey through the city included marveling at the stunning Grand Central Terminal, exploring the United Nations Headquarters to learn about peacekeeping and international diplomacy, and experiencing the vast exhibits at the American Museum of Natural History—covering everything from space exploration to life sciences and anthropology.

The final stop of the trip was the iconic Central Park, where students explored its beautifully planned landscapes and learned about urban green space design and its role in enhancing city life. It was a relaxing and reflective conclusion to a packed itinerary filled with learning, exploration, and inspiration.

A Journey of Growth and Discovery

Throughout the tour, students actively engaged in discussions, asked thoughtful questions, and collaborated on learning activities, demonstrating a growing sense of curiosity, independence, and academic ambition. The experience offered a perfect blend of structured learning and cultural exposure, leaving a lasting impact on each student.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Principal & CEO Mr. Srivalsan Murugan, our Vice Principal Ms. Sindhu P. Nair, and our dedicated chaperone from Compass International Mr. Andre Laillo, for their unwavering support and guidance.
